Cynthia Flannigan, CFP®

Financial Adviser,
Pro-Bono Volunteer for AdvisersGiveBack.org

Personal Statement:

My entire professional career has been in financial services. Originally, however, after completing my undergraduate degree, my career dream was very much Excel spreadsheet-centric, geeking out about well-crafted formulas. Fate had other plans and I wound up working for wealth management and investment management companies, doing everything from client service and marketing to bond trading and financial planning, loving not only the investment side and economy discussions, but also the exposure to clients and being a part of their lives. I made the shift to financial planning to guide clients through making good financial decisions through both grim and exciting changes in life. More than anything, I thrive on helping people.

A pivotal moment in my life was when my mother died unexpectedly. My mother had no will (that was found, anyway) and left behind a financial puzzle that needed to be solved along with a mountain of questions that may never be answered. I became determined to not let this happen when my dad eventually passes away knowing firsthand that the benefits of good financial planning doesn’t just involve money. Now I apply these lessons learned so others may benefit.

I considers myself a compulsive volunteer and annually volunteers as a one-on-one counselor for FPA’s Financial Planning Days.

Professional Attributes:
B.S. in Business Analysis at San Francisco State University, and a Masters in Financial Planning and Taxation at Golden Gate University. Past board member of the Junior League of San Francisco and was president of the Financial Planning Association of San Francisco chapter in 2015.

Personal Statement:
I'm looking forward to supporting you on your four week journey to build on the progress you've already made. It's always helpful to remember that taking action is the key part of this program and that's what I'll be working with you on tracking your progress and following up on your To Dos with deadlines.

I hear all the time how impactful this coaching model is and how easy we make it for people. One of my favorite quotes from someone who completed the program is:

"I appreciated being held accountable for taking action and made more movement in reaching my financial goals [in four weeks] than I have in the last 5 years."

If there's anything about your financial situation or priorities that you want to share with your adviser, just leave a message through the VideoAsk on this page. Thanks and talk soon!
