Why Advisers Give Back exists.

Knowing the right thing to do with money isn’t the same as doing it. We built a way for volunteer advisers to help people take the next step.

We’re a nonprofit. Every adviser is a fiduciary, which means they must put your interests first.

Where we come from.

Advisers Give Back started in 2020 with a simple idea: knowing what to do with money isn’t the same as doing it, and a conversation with someone who knows the way can close that gap. Our founder, Matt Iverson-Comelo, had seen it in 14 years of building financial technology, including work with Duke’s Common Cents Lab.

Advisers saw it too. Many wanted to help people who could never afford their services, and had no easy way to do it. So we built one. We find the people who want help and handle everything around the meeting, so volunteer advisers can do the work they trained for.

Since 2021, 218 volunteer advisers from more than 120 firms have answered that call. They’re the heart of Advisers Give Back.

“We couldn’t do any of this without our volunteer advisers. They give their time and expertise to people who could never afford their services, simply because they care. Their generosity is the engine that makes this work.”
Matt Iverson-Comelo, founder and executive director
